Georgia Bar Foundation grants support the organizations that stand between vulnerable Georgians and the life-altering consequences of going without legal help.

Funding Eligibility & Award Criteria
What We Fund
The Georgia Bar Foundation’s grants support nonprofit and law-related organizations, prioritizing those organizations that deliver direct legal services to people who need them most. Please read more below regarding eligibility & funding areas.
Who Can Apply for a GBF Grant
- Organizations that qualify as exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRC
- Governmental, charitable, and educational organizations exempt from income tax and whose purposes are consistent with those of the Foundation
The GBF may award funds to be used for one or more of the following purposes:
- Supporting legal services for Georgians who lack access or are experiencing poverty
- Priority: Civil Legal Aid
- Aiding children involved in the justice system
- Improving the administration of justice
- Promoting professionalism in the practice of law
- Providing legal education to Georgia’s children
- Providing educational programs for adults in order to advance understanding of democracy and our government

ALL DEADLINES ARE FINAL
INTENT TO APPLY FORM submission by MAY 15, 2026.
COMPLETED GRANT APPLICATION submission by MAY 29, 2026.
2026 – 2027 Application Process
How to Apply for a Grant
Qualified organizations submit a single application outlining their mission, structure, programs & services, and budget & financial information. The Board of Trustees reviews submissions based on demonstrated need, alignment with our mission, and measurable impact.
Documents that each organization will submit with their application include:
- Audit
- IRS Form 990 & IRS tax determination letter
- Operating Budget
- Organizational Chart, or a list of staff titles/roles
- Board Meeting Minutes from last 12 months
- Optional Letters of Support
